"MY FEELINGS"

REFAIN
My feelings are my feelings,
They're not wrong or right, you see,
But how I choose to act on them,
Can make a difference to me.

VERSE 1
When I'm angry I can shout insults,
Or hit or slam the door.
But that would only make things worse,
So calming down will be my chore.
I count to ten or take deep breaths,
Or draw or exercise.
I tell someone or laugh at jokes,
Or try to compromise.

VERSE 2
Sometimes I'm sad and lonely,
It seems I've lost all hope.
I can't do much of anything,
But sit around and mope.
I know that I must feel the pain,
Before I let it go,
So crying, talking, writing, drawing,
Are ways to let it show.

VERSE 3
At times, I feel afraid.
I'm scared to do what must be done.
But I can be courageous,
Even though I want to run.
I try new things. I tell the truth.
I stand up for what is right.
I make mistakes. I learn from them.
Acting brave can calm the fright.
